Our web based Regression Analysis with EViews course provides a complete and comprehensive discussion of linear and non-linear, simple and multiple, regression models with EViews. Regression modelling is the building block of any econometric and statistical research and as such, it is of extreme importance. The course is ideal for participants who wish to obtain a deep yet practical understanding of such powerful tool and apply it to empirical questions arising from economics, finance, health economics, and social science in general.

The course runs from 13.00 - 17.00 (UK Time)


The course provides a comprehensive introduction to regression modelling in EViews, the powerful and user friendly econometric software. Taking a “learning-by-doing” approach, we aim to explain you the most advanced uses of regression analysis relying on plenty of examples and a constant stream of challenging exercises. Participants leave with a sounded know-how of regression modelling, a precise understanding of its uses and limitations and the courage to independently solve their own empirical questions. We aim to provide a clear understanding of how to use EViews to make the data speak and to obtain the best linear regression algorithm for any research question.

The course is intentionally flexible. The agenda emerges dynamically and depends on the group’s prior background and knowledge of regression analysis and basic EViews. By the end of the course, all participants will feel comfortable undertaking the following tasks:

  • Eyeballing the data and pre testing the regression specification
  • Setting up the model: specification and parameter estimation
  • Diagnostic tests: verifying the reliability of the regression output
  • Efficiency improvements, coefficients stability, linearity vs non-linearity
  • Choosing the best set of regressors: who is afraid of multicollinearity?
  • Dummy variables and the dummy variable trap
  • Forecasting with regressions models

No prior knowledge of EViews is needed, however the online course “Getting started with EViews” is strongly recommended. No pre requisite in regression modelling is required.

Basic knowledge of hypothesis testing is required (the pre course reading will suffice for this) .

    • 50% fee returned for cancellations made 14-calendar days prior to the start of the course.
