RATS for Windows and Macintosh
Product Information

The Windows and Macintosh versions include:

  • The RATS software
  • RATSData (a stand-alone menu-driven data management utility program)
  • extensive built-in Help systems
  • over 1,000 pages of printed documentation, including the Getting Started guide, the RATS 6 User's Guide and the RATS 6 Reference Manual.
  • Adobe PDF versions of the User's Guide and Reference Manual are also included, along with Walter Enders "e-book", entitled RATS Programming Manual.

WinRATS Professional adds two features not included in the standard version:

  • Support for the Census Bureau's X11 Seasonal Adjustment procedure.
  • The ability to read and write FAME format database files (Requires that you have the FAME software for Windows installed on the same system. See www.fame.com for more on the FAME software.)

MacRATS Professional adds X11 Seasonal Adjustment procedure to the standard MacRATS package.

System Requirements for WinRATS

WinRATS is a full 32-bit application designed for use with 32-bit versions of Windows, including Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000, and XP. Here are the minimum system requirements for running WinRATS:

  • a PC with a Pentium or compatible processor
  • Memory requirements will depend largely on the size of the data sets you need to work with. You will need approximately 1 Megabyte of RAM for every 128,000 data points. The RATS program itself is fairly compact, and only requires about 1 Megabyte of RAM to load.
  • a hard disk drive with at least 15Mb of free disk space for a minimal installation, or approximately 50Mb for a full installation
  • a CD ROM drive
  • Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, or XP.

System Requirements for MacRATS:

MacRATS is a 32-bit application designed for use on PowerPC-based Macintosh, running System 8.0 or later. Note that this is currently not an OS X-native application, but it will run under OS X in "Classic" mode.

  • any PowerMac, PowerBook, iMac, or newer system
  • System 8 or later
  • Memory requirements will depend largely on the size of the data sets you need to work with. You will need approximately 1 Megabyte of RAM for every 128,000 data points. The RATS program itself is fairly compact, and only requires about 1 Megabyte of RAM to load.
  • a hard disk drive with at least 8Mb of free disk space
  • CD-ROM drive
